From the Superintendent

Congratulations to the Students and Staff at Floyd High School for being named to the U.S.News and World Report's "America's Best High Schools" in 2010. This distinction is, primarly, based on a compilation of data from the 2007-2008 School Year. This data includes state testing data and how Floyd Students performed compared to the rest of the state. The focus is on all students, with emphasis on the performance of low-income and minority students. For more information, check out the U.S.News and World Report Website.
This recognition supports our efforts to make "E.Y.P. - "Excellent Yearly Progress" our primary goal. Academic Success is first and foremost for all Floyd Municipal School Students. At our beginning of the year parent meeting, this was our focus and our stated goal: Together we can do it! Students made significant gains on the Fall "MAP" (Measurement of Academic Progress). Teachers have heightened emphases on a variety of standards and benchmarks. The challenge and expectation is "teaching from 'bell to bell'!" This means that students are expected to have an academic focus from the time they enter the classroom to the time they leave, and to ensure this, teachers will have learning activities planned for each minute of class.
Outside of the classroom, Broncos and Lady Broncos have a variety of activities available to them, ranging from athletics to student council to Fellowship of Christian Athletes and much more! These programs help to round out the time-honored "Excellence in Education" that is outlined by the Tradition, Excellence, Honor, and Discipline that make up the Floyd Municipal Schools and Community!
